Meet the Doctors
Earl
E. Woeltje DDS MAGD
Dr.
Woeltje received his Bachelor of Arts from Augustana
College
with majors in chemistry,
biology, and pre-dentistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery
Degree
from Northwestern University.
He taught in the Crown and Bridge department at Northwestern
University
immediately after dental
school and continued on a part time basis in his early years while
practicing
in Streator.
The
doctor places a very high value on continuing education for himself and
his
staff. Continuing education involves courses on advanced dentistry that
are
taken after graduation and while in practice. The MAGD stands for
Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. The designation
requires first receiving your Fellowship in the academy and all of its
requirements and then going on to receive over 1,500 more hours of
education in all the different fields of dentistry. Less then 100
dentists in the nation receives this honor.

Dr.
Woeltje lives in Streator with his wife Rita, and daughters Alexandria
and Madison. He personally
enjoys
woodworking, sailing, snow and water skiing.
Charles
Goodman DDS MS
Dr.
Goodman has been performing periodontal
treatment at our office since 1986. He attended the University
of Maryland for both his
undergraduate and dental training. He completed his specialty work at
the University of Iowa
receiving a certificate of
specialty in Periodontics and a Masters in Physiology.
He
served as director of graduate periodontal training at Northwestern
University
for seven years; in
addition he served as Associate Professor in both the graduate and
undergraduate clinics at the University.
He
also maintains a full time practice in Chicago.
Dr. Goodman and his wife Connie live in Dyer,
Indiana with their two sons Michael
and Brian.
Our
Dental and Office Assistants
Barb has
been a member of our team since November of 1990 as our Dental
Assistant, Lab
Technician, and Supply Coordinator. She is a member of the American
Dental
Assistants Association. She enjoys continuing education courses in all
aspects
of the practice and has taken several computer courses. Barb is a life
long
Streator resident . She and her husband Brian really
enjoy
summer and
spending time together with an occasional friendly round of golf,
walking, running or working out. She loves flower gardening and
spoiling their
dog Bear.
Bonnie has
been with our office since June of 1993. She assists both in the
clinical part
of the office, our sterilization coordinator ,and in the front office
as our
administrative secretary. She plays a major role in making our day run
smoothly. Bonnie is also a life long resident of Streator. She has a
son Joe,
daughter Amy, and two grandchildren, Charlie and Noelle. She
enjoys
walking, family activities, and is active in her church.
Gayla is
our Office Coordinator. She joined
our
staff in July of 2006. She is responsible for the accuracy of the
treatment
records, updating financial and medical information and the logging of
all
pertinent information in the computer. She
has 22 years of experience working in a
dental office. She brings extensive
knowledge and experience
in handling insurance claims. She and
her husband, Jeff, live in Leland and have two sons, Tim, (Nicole), and
Cory and a grandson, Ethan. She is a
Pampered Chef Consultant, is very
active in her church and enjoys being with family and friends.
Our Hygiene
Department
A
dental hygienist
is a licensed professional
qualified to detect and remove calculus and other foreign matter to
assist the
dentist in his diagnosis of dental disease. They are authorized with
further
training to provide injections and help maintain oral health and
educate the
patients on oral hygiene.
It
requires a two to four year degree completion program. Upon graduation,
hygienists are licensed by the state and are required to complete
twenty-four
hours of continuing education every two years.
Patti
began working for
Dr. Woeltje in December of
2000 and works Tuesday through Friday. She received her Registered
Dental Hygienist license in 1979 at IL
Central
College, Peoria, IL. She completes at least 36 hours
of continuing education every three years, is certified in CPR, the
monitoring of
Nitrous Oxide, and local anesthesia. Patti and her husband Don live in Ottawa.
They have two children Stacey and Chris. She and her husband Don enjoy
gardening, walking, hiking, and the occasional game of tennis.
Jean began
working with
us in January of 1996 and works Tuesdays and Thursdays. She
received her Registered Dental Hygienist
license in
1971 at Parkland College,
Champaign, IL.
She completes a minimum of 36 hours of continuing education every three
years, is
certified in
local anesthesia and CPR. Jean and her husband Ed live in Ransom.
They
have seven children, Kathleen (Nick) McGurk, Brian (Heather), Peggy
(Jim) Callaghan,
Kevin,
Danny(Mari), Megan (Zac) Bitner, and Ryan and nine grandchildren.
Jean enjoys working out, gardening, and biking.
Caryn is a
dental
hygienist who graduated from
Southern Illinois University in 1984, and started in our office March
2001. She
completes at least 36 hours of continuing education every three years,
is
certified in
local anesthesia and CPR. She works Wednesdays and Fridays.
Caryn
lives in Ottawa with her
husband
Dave and their 3 children Larissa, Lance, and Lindsey. She has worked
in
periodontic, pedodontic, and general dentistry offices. Caryn enjoys
outdoor
activities such as camping, water and snow skiing, and gardening.
